Obituary of Matthew G. Parker, Sr.
Matthew "Mackie" G. Parker, Jr. was born on Saturday, July 18, 1936 to the late Mary V. and Matthew G. Parker, Sr. The eldest of seven children. Matthew and his sibliings were raised in Riverside, New Jersey. After a long hard fight, Matthew passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018. Matthew graduated from Riverside High School, joining the Air Force afterwards where he attained the rank of "Master Sergeant."
He met and married the late Juanita Carter in 1957, and the two of them shared an unbreakable union for 56 years. Matthew and Juanita moved to Pennsauken, New Jersey where they raised their family, as well as the many foster children they opened their home to.
Matthew was a forever member of First Baptist Church of Riverside; a Mason of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge; brother of Eastern Star, and was involved with many other organizations. He was a graduate of Rutgers University and received a Bachelor's Degree. He worked as a LPN at Lakeland Hospital in Blackwood, New Jersey where he was a faithful employee until his retirement.
Matthew loved and adored his family, traveling, and sharing his life stories with anyone who would listen. He dedicated his life to helping others, and sharing his time with his brothers, sisters, children and his friends.
Mackie was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita; his sisters, Claudette, Janice and Mary Parker; brothers Ronald and Robert Parker; children, Stovier, Elliot, and Tracie and grandson Devon.
He leaves to treasure hi memory; two sons, Ronald Smith (Charlene) and Daniel Parker (Kathy), three daughters, Ernestine Vega (Alberto), Yvette Parker (David), and Dianna Harris, one brother Reverend Lonnie E. Parker, one sister-in-law Betty Parker, evelen grandchildren, Amber, (John), Lamar, Cameron, Gabrielle, Kevin, Kelsey, Ronnie, Lakeya, Stephaine, Shane, and Rodrick, eleven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
