Obituary of Leola S. Talley

Leola Scott Talley departed this life on Thursday, November 29, 2017. Leola Scott Talley was born on October 7, 1944 in Hardeeville, South Carolina to the late Simon and Addie Scott. Leola was the fifth of eight children; four preceded her in death. In the 1960’s, Leola relocated to West Atco, New Jersey.

Leola attended the public schools of Jasper County, South Carolina.

Leola met and married Richard H. Talley on November 17, 1979 and from this union they had five children.

Leola Scott Talley accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior at a young age. Years later, she joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church, W. Atco, where she served on the usher board and the choir.

Leola was employed by Mrs. Paul’s of Braddock, NJ for eighteen and a half years before they went out of business. Later, she became employed with the Camden County Vocational Technical School where she retired after twenty-five years.

In her spare time, Leola enjoyed fishing and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Leola was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Talley; her father and mother, Simon and Addie Scott; siblings, Theresa Scott Singleton, Issac Scott, Rebecca Scott and Issac “Ernest” Scott; one grandchild, Vernon L. Scott.

She leaves to cherish her memories, five children, Christina (Robert) Cooks, Carletta Clayton, Claudia Talley, Harry (Debbie) Barnes and Mark Harmon; six grandchildren, Frankie, Thomas, Myisha, Lawrence, Joshua and Brianna; nine great grandchildren, Ka’mya, Tajanae, Jahlil, Nylah, Azzure, Skye, Yaseen, MyJay and George; three brothers, Lawrence (Willie Mae) Scott, Earl (Carmen) Scott and Simon (Bernice) Scott, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Zula Mae Scott and Sandra Brown; four brothers-in-law, Albert, John, Ronald and Leon Talley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a Godmother, Sue.
