Obituary of Doris Marie Nowlin

Nowlin, Doris Marie of Atco, formerly of Berlin, NJ, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at the Fountains at Cedar Parke, Atco, at the age of 76. Born in Camden, NJ, Doris was the only child of the late Norman and Gladys Davis. She was a graduate of the Bordentown School District (recently featured on PBS and in Jet Magazine). Doris was trained as a seamstress while attending Bordentown Schools and subsequently held various jobs in the sewing industry. Later in life, Doris finished her professional work career in nursing support at Virtua Hospital, Marlton, NJ. Doris was a lifelong member and attended faithfully at St. Johns United Methodist Church, W. Berlin, NJ. She was an avid cook; famous for her potato salad, fried chicken and spaghetti, a great meal was always one fork away. She enjoyed music, talking on the phone with friends and a good meal. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Nowlin (1997) and her daughter, Andrea Nowlin (1996). She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Nowlin; granddaughter, Aja Nowlin and loving friend, Damon Tucker. In addition, she is survived by a host of family including loving grand nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held 5:30PM Sunday, at St. Johns United Methodist Church, 409 Fairview Avenue, West Berlin, where friends may call from 4:00pm. Burial in East Berlin Memorial Cemetery, West Berlin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Black History Scholarship, Attn. C. Culver at the church or Doris Nowlin Memorial Scholarship, Attn: Human Resources at the Fountains, 114 Hayes Mill Road, Atco, NJ.
