Obituary of Betty Jane Parker
Betty Jane Parker was born on September 21, 1939 in Horntown, Virginia. Betty was the only child of the late James and Nola Warrington. Betty attended Wattsville Elementary School. She later attended Mary N. Smith High School in Accomack County, Virginia.
Betty was active in church where she joined Dee’s Chapel in Hornton, Virginia at an early age. Betty studied at Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina for two years. After moving to New York, she met and fell in love with Alonzo Parker, Sr. whom she later married.
Betty loved going to the movies and reading books. Betty was loving and able to share love with everyone who came in contact with her.
Betty was a devoted and loving wife and an amazing mother. Betty was the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She was also a very good friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
Betty was called home peacefully on Sunday, July 23, 2017.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two children Leslie Parker and Alonzo Parker Jr.; daughter-in-law, Shakur Parker; four grandchildren, Sheniquah Chapman, Shaquille Chapman, Alonzo J. Parker and Solana F. Parker. Betty also had a special cousin, Josephine “WeWe” Byrd who she adored throughout their childhood. Their bond grew stronger throughout their adult years. Betty also leaves behind a host of cousins, friends and wonderful caretakers who helped throughout the years.
