Obituary of Jesse J. Summers, Sr.

Jesse James Summers was born on May 5, 1934 in Saint George, South Carolina to the late Mr. Shelly Summers and Ora Summers. Jesse departed this life on Saturday, March 12, 2016. Jesse grew up in Saint George, South Carolina where he attended the public schools and later in life he relocated to Atlantic City, New Jersey. He was employed by Local #415 as a laborer until his retirement. Jesse loved fishing and gardening and loved watching the Sports Channel. He also enjoyed watching the gospel channels on television. He was a happy person and loved his family. Jesse was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn Summers and one son, Jesse Summers, Jr.; two brothers, Shelly Summers, Jr. and Leroy Summers; three sisters, Mary Alice Logan, Altamese Waters and Florine Summers. Jesse leaves to cherish his memories, two brothers, Nathaniel Summers (Acalene) of Winter Garden, FL and Alonzo Summers (Barbara) of Cincinnati, OH; three sisters, Barbara Thomas (John) of Apopka, FL, Mary Lee Harris (Harry) of Lake Walen, FL and Viola Summers of Winter Garden, FL; his children, Belinda Caldwell of Zephyrhills, FL, Ora Albright of Atlantic City, NJ, Irene Summers (Bill) of Atlantic City, NJ, Sheila Summers (Dave) of Newtonville, NJ, Carletha Summers of Philadelphia, PA, Karen Berry (Mike) of Ohio, Lavern Summers of Atlantic City, NJ, Angie Summers of Atlantic City, NJ, Natayna Summers and Amanda Summers, both of Newtonville, NJ, Derek Fauntleroy of Connecticut, Raymond Summers of Atlantic City, NJ and Robert Summers of Newtonville, NJ; a companion for many years, Yvonne Lemon; grandchildren; great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
