Obituary of Mark Anthony Harmon

Mark Anthony Harmon was the youngest, out of 5 children, born on May 7, 1957, to William McKinley Harmon, Sr. and Esther Lena Polk. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. Growing up, he attended Edmonds Elementary and Martin Luther King High School both in Philadelphia, Pa. He then later served in the Navy from 1975-1978. When he came home he then worked for Danella Construction Company along side with his father(Hawk) and brother( Kirk )from 1978-1981. After that, he attended Edgewood Regional High School in Tansboro, NJ where he received his G.E.D. In 1991 he married Michelle Gratsy and from that union was born two beautiful girls; Marque (Qi) and Marketta (Sumo). Mark was well known for his love for Funk-A-Delic, Bootsy Collins, Ohio Players and Mandrill style of music, playing in the middle room with the black velvet glow in the dark posters on the walls. As music was changing he also fell in love with Hip Hop Styles of Public Enemy and Flava Flav, Eric B & Rakim and all time Rappin’ Duke (that’s where Danita got her nickname). He was also a die hard Phillies Sports fanatic. He loved watching his E-A-G-L-E-S, 76’ers and Phillies Baseball team while sipping on his BUD-ICE. His favorite line -”Hey Buddy – Pass Off”. To his nieces and nephews he was more then Uncle Mark. He was our “Big Brother”, who kept us busy by playing sports in the backyard or shooting ball to make us taller. He also played a good villain when we would play “Miami Vice”. To his Aunts and Uncles he was a serious Pinochle player. He and Nana (Esther) would be rubbing heads to where you can see your reflection. To his children, he was more than a Dad. He was their Valentine and that Dude who broke the mold with Marketta (his Sumo-me). Mark leaves behind his daughters, Marque Harmon-Martinez, Marketta Harmon; son-in-law Eric Martinez; one grandson, Elijah Martinez; Sister, Linda Morris; three brothers, William McKinley Harmon Jr., Kirk Harmon and Michael M. Harmon and a large host of nieces and nephews(great and great-great), aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, P.S. and Snookie. Uncle Mark, had left us so abruptly, leaving a lot of questions unanswered, broken hearted and angry at the unknowing. However, realize, memorize and be grateful of all the time you had spent with him including today.
