Oswald Phillip Lecky, Sr. was born in Bloomfield, Jamaica on July 8, 1928 to Andrew and Mary Lecky (nee Donahue). While growing up on a dairy and cattle farm, he had many siblings, some died at child birth. Oswald's two brothers and two sisters were: Ledford Lecky (predeceased) of Jamaica, Ronald Lecky (Josie) of London, England, Plummy Lecky of Jamaica and Carleen Lecky of Florida. As children, the Lecky's enjoyed playing and running around their farm. In addition, they enjoyed riding their cow named "Daisy". At 12 years of age, Oswald's father passed away and Mary had to move back in with her family. Therefore, the children were separated and raised in different Lecky homes. Under his new environment, Oswald was raised by in a strict and stern way by his uncle. When Oswald was of legal age, he joined the British Army of Jamaica for 2 years then enrolled in the Kingston Technical Trade School of Kingston, Jamaica from 1945 to 1951. While in school and after he graduated, he was employed at many companies in Jamaica. For instance, The Jamaican Power Plant company and Grace Bottling Company. In 1968, Oswald came to America and received his citizenship. In 1973, he met and later married Lamira Louise Branch and through that union had one son, Oswald Jr. Over the next 20 years, he worked as a mechanical and electrical engineer until he retired in the early 90's. During his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, barbecuing and listening to jazz music. In May 2015, he became ill and fought the illness for many months until he died on November 25, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Louise; son, Oswald Jr.; (late mother-in-law, Kathryn Branch); (late brother-in-law, Belmont Flournoy); his best friend, Charles Hammond and many nieces, nephews, cousins and cousin-in-laws. The family would like to send a special thank you to Natalie Ratliff and Holy Redeemer Hospice.
