Please share a memory of Raymond to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The word of the Lord says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. The Lord promises and never breaks a promise. He promised Rev. Raymond "George" Waters, Jr. that if he picked up his cross and believed in the Father, Son and Holy Ghost that He would come for him. On October 31st the Lord decided to make a stop on Penfield Lane and carry Rev. Waters home with him. George, as he was called by those who knew him best, was born to the late Raymond and Betty Waters in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 26, 1936. This is also where George received his primary and secondary education. Upon leaving high school and entering into man hood, George held many different positions in the work arena including being a police officer. He found his passion in carrying for and taking care of others. From this calling he pursued a career in Behavior Modification and earned an Associates's Degree from Atlantic Community College. George went on to be employed by the State of New Jersey and stayed with then for over twenty-seven years working in the Division of Developmental Disabilities. This position allowed him to open his hime to all men and women from all over and provide care for them. In between leaving high school and starting his career, George met Nora Brown. On August 12, 1977, he vowed to honor, love and cherish her. Through their union, they were instrumental in helping to raise two of their nieces, Tyreasa Thomas and Crystal Mears Williams, with their mother Carolyn Glenn. Although George had opened his home, was a servant to the community and his family, he still was not fulfilled. He knew that there was a higher calling on his life. Soon after relocating to Sicklerville, New Jersey, George and his family became members of Christ Care Unit Missionary Baptist Church. He joined the Male Choir and was very active throughout the church. Through the leadership of Bishop Hargrove, George accepted his calling to preach and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was ordained Rev. Raymond George Waters, Jr. on October 19, 2003. He was a kid at art. George enjoyed fishing, model cars, singing, remote controlled cars, cook-outs along with family time. One of his greatest family times was throwing horseshoes with his brothers, Tommy, roosevelt and J. George enjoyed having family time in the "Man Cave". His man cave was the spot for hime and his nephews to cut up and let loose. During his last weeks, George was asked did he need anything or want anything. To a surprise he states that he wanted a party. He just wanted to have his family together for one more time. His request was honored on October 18th. Preceding him in death are his parents, Raymond and Betty Waters; brother, Allen Waters; son Raymond George Waters III and father and mother-in law, James and Edith Scarborough. Continuing the legacy of Re. Raymond George Waters, Jr is his wife, Nora Waters;sister, Rosetta Mason, Edith Dunmore, Bernadine (Paul) Tucker, Darlene Garcia, Arlene Rice and Theresa (John) Nick; brothers, David Mears Samuel Mears, Aulton (Mary) Mears, Ricky ( Theresa) Scarborough, Kevin (Gwen) Mears; Tyreasa (Steven) Thomas, Crystal Mears Williams, Ta'Daisa, Terrell, Francis along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and cousins.
