George Elmore Williams, affectionately known as, Georg-e-mo, Big George, Dad, and Pop-Pop, was born on March 8, 1943 in Newport News, Virginia. He was the eldest of the late George Junious and Frances Virginia Williams. George was educated in the Newport News Public School System. He attended Dunbar Elementary School and continued to Hunting High School where he graduated in 1962. After graduation, George attended St. paul's College in Lawrenceville, Virginia and later transferred to Bluefield State College in Bluefield, West Virginia. Growing up, George loved sports. He was particularly interested in playing baseball and football. George also loved listening to music, reciting poetry and collecting comic books. George had an extensive Marvel comic book collection that contained many genres and spanned from the Golden Age of Comics through parts of the Silver Age of Comics. After college, George returned to Newport News and worked briefly at Newport News Shipbuilding (The Shipyard). In 1967, he married his beloved Ellen V. Jenkins and moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he began working for Western Savings Bank of Philadelphia. George quickly became interested in being an Auditor and accepted a job with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where he served as a State Auditor for the Office of the Auditor General. In 1973, George moved his wife and children to Willingboro, New Jersey where he lived for 42 years. George was an extraordinary cook and enjoyed cooking gourmet meals for his family, friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed hosting Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's parties. During leisure time, you could often find him engaged in philosophical debates or watching cowboy, science-fiction and horror movies. George also enjoyed game shows and sports. He was a loyal Eagles, Phillies and Sixers fan...but he also enjoyed and was very knowledgeable about tennis, soccer, hockey, swimming, gymnastics track and field and boxing. George loved the family vacation in Martha's Vineyard where the highlight of his day was finding the perfect spot to watch the sunset.
