Obituary of Barbara W Austin

Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On a very cold February 7, 1946 morning, very unexpectedly, Samuel and Mamie Austin were blessed by the birth of twin daughters, Sharla Gwendolyn and Barbara Wyndolyn. The identical girls joined four sisters and one brother "already in place." Sadly on April 14th and two months old, God called Sharla back to heaven. She has since been joined by parents, Samuel and mamie, sister Evelyn, Ida Mae "Ikie", Loureynold and one brother, Joseph. Barbara, nicknamed "Bobbi" by her mother grew up in a loving and Christian home. She attended the Evergreen Church and accepted Christ as a teen-ager. She was baptized by the late Rev. W. O. Merritt and in the ensuing years, she served on the Junior Choir, in the Baptist Training Union and was a Sunday school teacher. Bobbi attended Palmyra school and graduated high school in 1964. In high school she participated in various clubs and committees. She also played softball for three years. Upon graduation, she entered North Carolina Central State College. After three years, she transferred to Glassboro State (now Rowan University) and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Childhood Education. In the mid seventies, Bobbi formed a girl's softball team, named "The Young Mafia." These young Palmyrians were very successful. Bobbi began her teaching career in 1970 and taught in Camden and North Jersey. She also was employed by Burlington County Community Action and Camden County O.E.O. After accepting a teacher's position in Philadelphia, Bobbi moved to Philadelphia where she has resided since. Soon after moving, she met a young man, Tommy Robinson, who became the love of her life and remains a very devoted, caring and loving finance'. Bobbi was very devoted to her family. Loving, supportive and spoiling all of her nieces and nephews. She knew everybody's birthday and even on her sick bed, she would call to say "Happy Birthday." She often spoke about the fun times she had growing up with her childhood buddies and still friends Ann, Sandi, Louise, Lorraine, Joyce Ann, Michael and Nate. Bobbi was a person who always reached out to others, with a kind word, a smile or a hug. She had a very caring heart for all of the children she taught. She would come to your house and ask for anything she saw that she though they could use. Bobbi had a deep faith in God and knew she would be leaving us soon. She often spoke about God's will in her life. On Tuesday morning, October 13th when visited by the hospital chaplain, she smiled and told her "All is Well." After her long hard fought battle with asthma and lung cancer, Our Heavenly Father whispered , "It's Time, Come Home. I have a place prepared for you." She quietly accepted the call. Never to be forgotten, Barbara "Bobbi" Austin, leaves to cherish her memory, sister, Jeane; devoted finance' Tom Robinson, nieces, Karen Sheryl, Kim, Leslie, Lynn, Keisha, Carol and Sheryl; nephews, Tom and Terry. Twenty-one great nieces and nephews, close cousin Helen Glances; special friends, Dewees "Pete" Kemp, Carol Hood and Yvonne Walters. Adopted niece and nephews Roz, Greg and Gregory Davis. Several close cousins, many friends, former co-workers and the West Palmyra Village.
