Ecclesiastes 3:1
A Time To Be Born
Esther White was born on April 24, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA. She was the third child of eleven born to Bertha and John Matthew White. She attended public schools in Philadelphia; Bayard Taylor Elementary, John P. Stetson, Jr. High School and graduated from Mastbaum Vocational School.
As a young woman, after graduating from high school, she worked at the YWCA at 174 W. Allegheny Avenue. After leaving the “Y”, she worked for Bell Telephone Company. She later worked for AT & T after the merger with Bell Telephone. She remained at AT & T for thirty-six years. During this period, she trained other workers to motivate themselves in an administrative capacity. Shortly afterwards, she continued employment at 1835 Arch Street and remained there until 1986. She received several awards from AT & T and Bell Telephone. After retiring from At & T, she gained employment with the Borough of Chesilhurst, NJ; working in the finance department for eight years until her illness forced her to retire.
A Time To Love
Esther met and married Bernard W. Fowler in 1952. They lived happily in marriage until her passing. During this period, they were dedicated to each other; traveling across the country and enjoying several cruises visiting many islands. “Ess”, as she was affectionately called, always enjoyed being around her family and friends. She loved to cook, especially baking cakes. She was a top notched baker with a flair for beauty.
A Time To Embrace
“For we know that If our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, A house not made with hands eternal in the heavens”
II Corinthians 5:1
Esther, after joining the Mosque in 1952, reverted back to Christianity, the religion in which she was raised.
A Time To Rejoice
“Death is swallowed up in victory, O death, where is thy sting! O grave, where is the victory”
II Corinthians 15:54b-55
