Obituary of Robert Leon Sweeney

Robert L. Sweeney was born on January 20, 1960 to the late Robert B. Sweeney and Nancy E. Sweeney, in Washington , DC. He departed this life on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Kennedy Memorial Hospital.
Robert graduated from Halifax County Senior High School in 1978. He was a very highly recognized offensive lineman for the school's football team. Robert was named "The Wolfman" on the field, where he received an unusual recognition for an offensive lineman as the Comet Offensive Player of the week. In addition to his offensive guard duties, Sweeney was also the kickoff man for the Comets.
Robert growing up, was a member of the New Vernon Baptist Church in Halifax, VA where he served as a Youth Usher.
After graduation from high school, Robert entered the U.S. Coast Guard HS2 Robert L. Sweeney graduated from Advanced X-Ray Technician School class 8452-31, Naval School Health Science, in San Diego, CA. He received various courses throughtout an one month period, ranging from Radiologic Biology, Ethics, Physics, Radiologic Pathology, Ultrasound, and Alternate Imaging Systems. Robert assumed his duties at the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May, N.J., where he received his A.S. degree in Radiologic Technology. Robert also successfully completed the Dental Technician training program at U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Cape May, NJ in 1984.
During his years as an X-Ray /CT technician, he worked at several prominent hospitals and outpatient facilities throughout Southern Jersey and Philadelphia areas. He ended his work career by greeting everyone with a smile on his face at Sam's Wholesale Club in Williamstown, NJ.
Robert met the love of his life, Pamela M. Lloyd in 1985. Robert and Pamela were married on October 15, 1988. From this union they were blessed with two handsome sons, Robert and Joshua,
Robert leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Pamela M. Sweeney; sons Robert A. Sweeney (Kellee) of Hampton, VA and Joshua L. Sweeney, and a loving young lady dear to the family, Shayla Brown both of Sicklerville, NJ; his sister Cassandra Davis (Dale) of Nathlie, VA; his aunt and uncle, Doris and Randolph Petty of Halifax, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving relatives and close friends.
Robert, "Leon, Uncle Bob, Bob, Bobby Blue Blaze" was greatly loved and appreciated from the ribs that he grilled, the crabs that he cooked like no other, to the many different languages he spoke, his brilliant mind & love of Jeopardy, Who Wants to Be A Millionaire and other game shows and the jokes that kept smiles on our faces, he will forever be missed and loved in all our hearts and soul.
