Obituary of Pauline Smith
Please share a memory of Pauline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On February 17th 1942, God took pity upon this world and delivered a blessing, in the form of a woman who could be deemed nothing less than an Angel. Pauline Smith, née Martin was the first of five children born to Noliah Harrington and Edward Martin in rural North Carolina. Sometime during her youth, Pauline and her family relocated to Albion, New Jersey where she attended and graduated from Edgewood Regional High School. Amidst her attendance at Edgewood, Pauline encountered a charismatic, man, Leonard H. Smith Sr., with whom she would spend the next fifty-three years of her life married to. From the union of Pauline and Leonard Smith, came two beautiful children: Brenda L. Smith and Leonard H. Smith Jr, both of whom Pauline nurtured and loved in every way a mother should. In spite of taking on the roles of mother and wife, Pauline never faltered in her diligence outside of the home. From very early on in her life to nearly the end, she worked, tirelessly. Preceding her passing, she held the principal, position of shift leader for MedPlast, Inc of Berlin, New Jersey.
Raised by a devoutly, religious mother; Pauline existed in this world, not as a hypothetical Christian, but a practicing one. Either by means of words or by actions, Pauline impacted everyone she encountered with her selfless gestures and benevolent demeanor. Whether family, friend, or mere bystander; if you experienced even a moments time with Pauline, that in itself was a blessing. As with any amazing wonder, there comes an end. Although Pauline has been called home to reside with the Lord, her spirit will continue to be discerned among the many who loved and cherished her.
Pauline is preceded in death by: her father Edward Martin, her beloved brother George Martin, and her dear cousin James Reed, whom she affectionately regarded as another brother.
She is survived by an unwavering, mother Noliah Martin, whom she loved beyond words. Her younger, brothers David Martin and Robert Martin Sr. A husband Leonard Smith Sr. Two adoring, children Brenda Smith and Leonard Smith Jr. Nine grandchildren, including: Anthony Smith, Erica Durrett, Brittany Durrett, Laniesha David, Latianna David, Sean David, Angelique Smith, Dante Smith, and Simone Smith. One rambunctious great-grandchild, Jasiah Smith. Her nieces: Tracy Martin, Geneva Martin, Gina Martin, and Venus Mobley. Her nephews: Troy Martin, Terrance Martin, Robert Martin Jr., Quinn Martin, George Martin Jr., and David Martin. A host of cousins, including her favorite, Regina Wright and a plethora of friends and family whom she loved earnestly.
Great-grandmother, grandmother (affectionately known as mom-mom), mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and angel; Pauline Smith.
