Robert,
a veteran, humanitarian, businessman, devoted husband, father, uncle, step-father, step-grandfather and beloved friend, who was affectionately known as "Stone", departed this life on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the age of 79.
Robert was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 28, 1930, to the late Allen and Minnie (nee Gay) Stone. Robert was the youngest of four siblings which all preceded him in death.
Robert attended Bok Vocational High School for Tailoring and entered into Military Service right out of high school. His tour of duty included The Berlin Blockade (1948-1949); Korean Conflict (1950-1953); and the Vietnam Era (1961-1968); of which all three wars he was injured. After 20 years of service, Robert Stone, Master Sergeant US Army, retired with a full Honorable Discharge.
Robert's employment and community service careers spanned an additional 35 years. Upon his discharge, Robert went to work for Kardon Chevrolet, Mt. Holly, NJ. From 1968-1973, he served as the Executive Administrative Assistant for Camden Legal Services; from 1973-1976, he served as Executive Administrative Assistant for the Greater Philadelphia Movement to CEO's Rohm & Haas-Campbell Soup.; from 1976-1980, he was the Co-Owner pf How-Rob Inc.; from 1981-2004, he was an Independent Insurance Producer for Robert Stone Insurance Agency of Camden, NJ.
In 2004, Robert finally retired, but that didn't last very long. He got involved with his good friend, John Williams. At this time, Robert assisted as VP of Operations for Medical and Surgical products distribution, sales and coordinating with the customers for wheelchairs, scooters and lift chairs. Also during this time and up until his death, Robert worked as an Administrative Assistant for Darden Construction of Atlantic City, NJ.
Robert was also involved with the Masonic Lodge. He aspired to the level of 33rd Degree F & AM,, Past Worshipful Master, Past Deputy and District Grand Master of El Bethel Lodge #122.
Robert leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Joslyn Stone; his only beloved daughter, Robyn Stone of Pacifica, CA; three step-children, Jillianne Harris of Blackwood, NJ, Jewlyanne Crawford of Merchantville, NJ and Antjuan Satterfield-Harris of Winter Park, FL; also 7 step-grandchildren; his former wives, Hildegard (formerly Stone), Velma M. (formerly Stone), June Lee-Stone and a host of other relatives and frineds.
Services will be held 11AM Monday, February 15, 2010, at Living Word Bible Fellowship, 133 W. Church Street, Blackwood, NJ, where friends may call from 9AM. Burial, 10:30AM Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
