Obituary of Beverly Jeanette Johnson

Beverly Jeanette Johnson was 32 years of age when she passed away. We unexpectedly received the call on Friday morning the 28th day of February 28, 2014. At the time she was a resident at the Mt. Laurel Rehabilitation Center where she was receiving aggressive physical therapy. She looked forward to gaining her strength back after being in the hospital since November 22, 2014. This month was Beverly's four year anniversary as a breast cancer survivor and she was looking forward to having breast reconstructive surgery. Even though she was legally blind she was very independent, once she made up her mind that she wanted to do something, she made it happen. She scheduled her own transportation to go to her day program, to go shopping for her snacks, to get her nails done, and to pick up her medications from the drug store. She even took public transportation by herself on several occasions to visit her nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers during the spring and summer months. She has always loved music; she was inspired by Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles because they were also blind but still had the gift and courage to pursue their musical dreams. Beverly had the voice of an angel, she had a range that went from 2nd alto to 1st soprano, and she sang with ease and she sang effortlessly. She sang with authority and humbleness, the songs she chose were powerful gospel songs of how Jesus was her provider, how Jesus had given us angels to watch over us and protect, and whenever she sang she always received a standing ovation. She lived in Willingboro, New Jersey with her Aunt for the past 25 years. She leaves to cherish her memories six sisters: Samantha Johnson, Ebony Johnson, Noel Hancock, Samara Johnson, Brittnie Johnson, and Aunya DeShields. Two step sisters: Kara Wiley and Shinwell DeShields. Two brothers: Treeone Johnson and Duval DeShields Jr. And a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host close friends.
