Obituary of Ester Vernice Hamwright

Hamwright, Ester Vernice Wilkins was born on March 26, 1931, to the late Crushaw and Lillie Wilkins in Cowpens, Spartanburg Co., South Carolina. Ester, affectionately known as Mom-Mom, Aunt Vernice and Tudie, was educated in the South Carolina School Syetem. After completing her education, she was united in Holy Matrimony to her sweetheart, the late Edward P. Hamwright on December 30, 1947. From this union, they were blessed with five children. After leaving South Carolina, they resided in New Jersey where she was employed at Ancora State Hospital. She was later employed with Haddonfield Presbyterian Nursing Home, Kressview Nursing Home and retired from Medford Leas Convalescent Home. Vernice accepted the Lord at an eaqrly age and joined North Baptist Church, Woodbury, NJ. While living n Berlin, she joined St. John's United Methodist Church, W. Berlin. Ester leaves to fondly cherish her memories, her children, Janice Hamwright, Gloria Hamwright (Andre Bullard, like a son), Marvin Hamwright, Dennis Hamwright and Marie Hamwright; four grandchildren, James (Elaine) Davis; Dennis Jr., Yvonne and Dominique; six great-grandchildren;special friends, Helen Folks, Anita Venable and Barbara Hayes and a host of other family members and friends. Services will be held 10AM Friday, January 22, 2010, at St. John's United Methodist Church, 409 Fairview Avenue, West Berlin, NJ, where friends may call from 9AM. Burial in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
