To Tammy, Junie,Gerry,Billy,Walter and Kevin,
I know that this is a moment of hurt and loss, but I need to tell you that once the tears are dry and your hearts are comforted, your faces will light up with a smile each and every time that you think of your father. As you know, I am an older brother of Tammies. I had the fortune as a little boy to have a brief moment in my life to be able to share your father as a father figure. It may not have been long, but that brief period left a profound impression upon me. I saw a man who not only was a person who loved to laugh and as you described him,"a natural born jokester", but I also saw a man that I was able to look up to because of his work ethics. He is the first man that I could remember seeing raise up everyday to go to work. Then I could remember his coming thru the door at the end of a long day covered in dust, with a pencil over one of his ears and a big smile. Next came the joke or story that he would tell to put a smile on our faces also. That vision of a working man was forever etched in to my mind. We didn't have many positive role models in our lives back then. Also, I will always remember the interaction that he had with his children. I could tell that not only did he love you all, but he showed it. Because of those memories, I will forever be indebted to "Harm", because he allowed me to see some of the virtues of a real man. The last time that I spoke to "Harm", my mother, Audrey and I visited him at his home and we also stopped by Gerries. That last visit years ago is another moment in my life that I will never forget. He and I were outside and as I looked into his frail face, I thanked him. I told him how my work ethics were influenced by what I had observed of him years ago and that the compassion and understanding that I have for my family also were based upon those observations. I'll never forget the welling of the tears in his eyes before he turned to go back into his house. So, I say to you Tammy and all of your brothers and sister, you have a lot to be proud of. Thanks for sharing him with me and the rest of the Blackwell Family. So cry your cries because I know that it hurts, but when you are done, smile. No, Laugh!!! Because I am sure the he is whispering a joke or story into your ears that no one else can hear!!!
Love, Peace and Forever Happiness!!
Kenneth "Eat More" Blackwell
P.S.
That was the nick name that "Harm" affectionately gave me.

It's been many years since I laid eyes on Harm. Tammy my heart goes out to you and the rest of the family. I was thinking the last time I saw Harm was in 1975. Fun flash back. I was a troubled child and Harm said, "If I put my Foot up your A**, you wont be a trobuled child any more. I think thats about when I decided to join the militry (smile) He will be missed, may God bless you and your family and keep you safe. Freddy and family

My memories are of the funny man daddy was. He liked to tell stories that would make you wet yourself and laugh with you. When he smoked he'd make O's come out of his mouth and I always wondered how he did that, but I foundout soon enough. He was a very loving man-though he'd always try to hide his emotions. Daddy maybe gone from us but he will never be far away.I will miss his smile and laughter. Stepdaughter, Anne

Uncle Harm was like a father, a brother, and a son to me.
I'm going to miss his stories and the friendship we had over the years.
Whether we were working, playing or just hanging out, it was always special.
