Obituary of Timothy E. Johnson

Please share a memory of Timothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Timothy went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 24, 2024. He was 69 years old. Tim was the son of the late George A. Johnson, Sr. and Deborah (nee Townsend) Johnson. He resided in Sicklerville.

Tim (Timmy, Big Tim) grew up in Deptford and graduated from Deptford High School in June 1973. After high school he lived in Bridgeton for several years and then moved to Sicklerville with his family. Tim’s interest in cooking led him to Johnson and Wales Culinary Arts School. While attending college he worked at the Holiday Inn Down Town in Providence, Rhode Island applying the skills he was learning. After college Tim worked at Hunt-Wesson Foods cooking high volumes of ketchup and tomato sauce.

Tim also worked in food preparation at Tall Pines Inn.  From October 1976 to March 1978 Tim served in the U. S. Army in Korea. He was a M.O.S. Teletype Communications Specialist. Timothy received an honorable medical discharge. He was a private first
class. Tim was proud to be a veteran. He became a life member of VFW Post 303 in Sicklerville. Tim loved pizza. He also enjoyed birthday lunches at Applebee’s with either his brother George, his mother or Aunt Jackie. He was an Eagles fan and a WWE wrestling fanatic. Timmy was a Godfearing man. He attended CCU Missionary Baptist Church where he was an usher.

Tim was well liked and fun loving. He was a no-nonsense type of guy who could be outspoken when necessary. Tim was kind. He could be characterized as a gentle giant. He would help anyone, if he knew they were in need. He loved his nieces and nephews.

Timothy is survived by his brothers George Johnson, Jr. and wife Nancy, Daniel Johnson, Neal Johnson, Sr., Michael Johnson and wife Laura, and Tylee Johnson; nieces and nephews India Johnson, Neal Johnson, Jr., Michael Jones, Timothy J. Johnson, Anthony Johnson, Alexis Butler; great nieces and nephews Keison Holmes, Teyana-Marie Crawford, DJ Crawford, Alaiya Johnson, Brison Butler.
