Joseph David Yates Jr., beloved father, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday July 17 th , 2024 at the age of 64. He was born on July 23rd, 1959 to Joseph David Yates Sr. and Hattie L. Yates and grew up in Bridgeton, New Jersey, where his kindness and resilience touched the lives of those around him. 

Joe faced life's challenges with courage and grace. He attended Cumberland Regional High School and two years at Cumberland County College where he had a desire to be a Physical Education teacher. Joe was a hardworking individual who took pride in his work in the glass and construction industry. Despite the obstacles he encountered, he
remained steadfast in his love for his family and friends.

In his leisure time, he found joy in sports; specifically, basketball, football, and baseball, sharing his passions with enthusiasm. He had a unique ability to connect with others, leaving a lasting impact wherever he went.

Joe is survived by his son Jermaine Gant, daughter Lauren Gant, Mother Hattie L. Yates, brother Larry Yates, sister Deanna Yates and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father Joseph David Yates Sr., two brothers Jeffrey Thomas Yates Sr., and Gregory Albert Yates Sr., his maternal grandparents Mary and Albert White and paternal grandparents, Martha and John T. Yates Sr.

A funeral service to celebrate Joe's life will be held at Morning Star Baptist Church in Woodstown, NJ, to honor his memory and the profound impact he had on everyone who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family will accept donations towards the funeral expenses. Your generosity during this difficult time would be greatly appreciated.

Joe's memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends, who were privileged to share in his journey of strength and compassion.
