On March 23, 2024, James Edward Clark "Tinny" as affectionately known departed this life. James was born to William Clark Sr. and Dorothy Alma Bryant Clark on March 11, 1946. James was the fifth child out of 8 siblings. Born in Philadelphia, Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 of his siblings, Judy Clark, Sylvia Clark Dixon, William Clark Jr., Jerome Clark, Roland Clark. His early up bringing began in Glassboro, NJ. In 1960, the family moved to Williamstown, NJ where James attended school. James was very well known in high school; in his yearbook it states “give him a pencil and paper and he is happy as clam. Likes to eat, dance, the Bop was his favorite dance. Sharp dresser!.... James had two nick names, to family and close friends he was call “Tinny” school mates “Sosh” due to his small frame. James was very artistic; he drew a self-portrait and created a ceramic bust of himself as a gift to his mother. After graduation James enlisted into the Army, his rank SP/4 in Operations & Operation Maintenance Engineer Group, Hanau, Germany. Upon leaving the Army James enrolled into Newark Community College graduated with an Associate in Business. He also took up tailoring while in college. James was employed with Shoprite in Newark, NJ for many years, later with IRS, Amtrak, Conrail and the Postal Service. James made West Philadelphia his home until his death. James is survived by, one son Charles Elliot Chavers Clark, daughter-in-law Linda Clark, 3 grandsons Jordan, Dallas and Chandler, all of Fayetteville, Georgia. One brother Richard Clark of Williamstown, N.J. one niece Siliva Clark-Dieng of Charlotte, NC., two nephews Terry Bennett Clark of Vineland, NJ, Richard Clark Jr. (Victoria) of Egg Harbor Twp., NJ., three great nieces, Yasine, Rayana, Pharah, one great nephew Richard 3rd. A special friend Jean Chavers, his favorite cousin and caretaker Wanda G. Bryant-Ison of Sicklerville, NJ., caretaker Nina Norris of Philadelphia, Pa and host of cousins and friends.
