Obituary of Florence C. Roberts

Sadly, on Friday September 22, 2023, we lost the matriarch of our family, Florence Collins Roberts. She was extremely patient, loving, and kind. She dedicated her life to being of service to others both in personal/family life and to the church where she was a lifelong member serving as a Stewardess, usher, and choir member for many years. Florence was “the baby of the family” as she called herself, born to Herbert William and Florence Payne Roberts in Merchantville, NJ. She was predeceased by her 5 older siblings: Beverly Bosman, Ezelta Jones, Carroll Roberts, Donald Roberts, and Mary Olsen and 2 daughters: Diane Collins and Patricia Collins. She leaves to mourn 3 children: Wilhelmina Collins, Michael Roberts, and Phillip Roberts; 11 grandchildren: Beverly McDaniel, Pamela Ross, Shammielle Ross, Dawn Collins, Rosalind Coleman, Leonard Hicks, Sabrina Hicks, Tieeka and Ty Taylor, Alton Cox, and Tyrie Turner-Collins. 36 great grandchildren, 46 great-great grands, and 1 great-great-great grandchild. She was affectionately known as “great mom” to all. Florence enjoyed working with people and enjoyed a long career at Reitman Industries. After retiring from Reitman Industries, she joined the grandparents’ program at Kids Academy Daycare in Camden, NJ. Florence enjoyed spending time with children. She always made time to talk, listen, and play games with them in her home and work life. She enjoyed visiting family, attending church events, and a good game of scrabble in which she was undefeated! Her class and smile were unmatched, and her unconditional love will be sorely missed.
