Linnette Barbara Jean Whyte was born on June 7, 1928 in Hayes, Jamacia British West Indies. She was the youngest daughter of two children of Sandy Whyte and Mary Martin. Her sibling preceded her in death.
Her early education was in Jam WI, and she later continued at Manhattan Borough Community College.
At the age of Twenty-eight, she moved to the United States to start a life as Mrs. Christopher Williams. Linnette and her husband resided in Washington DC and to that union one child was born, Carolyne.
Linnette’s husband was promoted while working for the federal government and they moved to Queens, NYC where they resided at the same address for over fifty years.
Linnette was the quintessential nurturer to her husband, daughter and grandchildren along with a host of other loved ones.
She had several pastimes that included reading, sewing and debating. Yes, if you want a straight answer go to her and you will get it.
Linnette departed this side of living at 4:45 am, Monday, July 17, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband Christopher Williams, sister Bernice Reid Jackson and grandson Jemel R. Vinson.
She leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories to her daughter Carolyne (Jerry); two grandchildren: Courtney Jeneen and Antoine (Jacqueline); several great-grands: Jasmine M. Vinson, Jacqueline (Morris) Green, Christopher F. Vinson, Karter E. Vinson, Domnick S. Vinson, Austen Linnette Vinson (her namesake) and Landen Jemel Vinson; three great great-grands: Jordan D. Perkins, Nable T. Jordan and Jayden A. Valentine, along with a host of loving relatives and friends.
