Obituary of Helen M. Johns
Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Helen Johns was the firstborn child of Joseph and Minnie Fisher, born and raised in Beverly, NJ. Helen affectionately known by those in her hometown as “Honey”, actively helped to raise her younger siblings, missing much of her own childhood. She had a close bond of love with all of them, which has remained to this day. Helen met and married Donald H. Johns Sr. and remained a devoted wife to him until his passing. Helen and Donnie became parents to Donna M. (Bruce) Jones, Harvey F. Johns (deceased), Derek W. Johns, and Donald H. (Gina) Johns Jr. She was privileged to have a very special daughter and son-in-law Gina Johns and Bruce Jones, whom she loved as her own.
Helen was a devoted mother to her children, giving them the best of care, making sure they were loved, and that they had everything they needed. She always put them first in her life.
She also enjoyed cooking, making new recipes, traveling, and dancing well into her 80’s.
Helen dearly loved her siblings who in return loved and showed her great respect. She is survived by 3 sisters Barbara (Ralph) West, Patricia Fisher, and Loretta Fisher, 5 brothers Joseph (Sandy) Fisher, Earl (Deborah) Fisher, John (Cookie) Fisher, Sahir El-Almin, and Gregory Fisher. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters Pearl M. Fisher-Estrada (2020), Estelle R. Walden (2021), and Esther M. Benson (2023). She will be sadly missed as the matriarch of the Fisher family, as well as by her many spiritual brothers and sisters.
Our mother was always interested in God and the Bible. She had many questions she needed answers to, and she searched and prayed to find them. Her prayers were answered when she received a knock on her door and accepted a home Bible study where she found satisfying answers to all her many questions. They showed her answers to her questions from the scriptures in her own Bible. She continued studying for several years and became a dedicated baptized Jehovah’s Witness. She wanted to share bible truths she had learned with others, starting with her children. It brought her great joy, and she has continued non-stop, without let up for over the last 60 years.
Helen has endured many health issues in recent years but has been blessed to see and enjoy time with her 10 grands, 14 great grands, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Helen is looking forward to all the future blessings that God’s word the Bible has promised and guaranteed.
