I never met Merrill Pratt, but I was his fan. I played football at Riverside High School. I was a middle linebacker and on Thanksgiving Day in 1953 or 54. At 85, my memory is not the best, but I recall him running off tackle on that day, because I filled the hole and was planning to tackle Merrill and stop him cold. This gifted running back seemed to disappear in thin air and finished the run in the end zone some 50 yards from where I was planning to hit him. Between Merrill and Sandy Pratt, they beat us 38-0. I also saw Merrell playing for St Pete's Semi-pro team which was being coached by Grant Cuzzupe. Merrell was an awesome athlete. He ran a kick-off back for s touchdown while cooley directing his blockers to clear a path for him. As I wrote, I never had the pleasure of meeting Merrell, but wish I had. My sincere condolences to the Pratt family and may Merrell RIP..

Spent a lot of time with Merrill on the Golf Course while caddying and sharing many sports memories of our town's athletes. Never heard him say a bad thing about anybody. The Lord took a good Man with Him. RIP Mr. Pratt! Robert Moorhouse

My deepest condolences to the Pratt family. Every time I came back to visit my family and we went to play golf we would be walking off the first tee and, without fail, Merrill would be coming off the 17th green. Always a big smile, always laughing and always with a quick "zing" or "jab" that would have my family laughing for the rest of the day. He was a warm, wonderful man that I am happy I knew. May the Pratt family find peace and may Merrill rest in peace.

Mr. Pratt was such a kind soul during my time at Palmyra High School. 1972-1976. Living in Beverly, basketball practice did not start until 5pm. There was a lot of time to kill. Mr. Pratt would often talk to me. When I was 15, I became a Christian. He gently asked me; I heard you got religion? What a sweet, gentle soul. I always remembered him more than any one teacher. What an amazing man. GOD Bless you and your family.

Mr. Pratt was a kind man with a big heart. Above all else he loved PHS football and had to be the ultimate fan of Merrill as well as his grandkids. My favorite memories of him are when I would see him in the hallways of the high school. He loved talking about the upcoming Saturday game & always had a few questions about the next team on the schedule. Wishing all of his family and friends peace in all the memories they hold of a life well lived. My sincerest condolences.

Finding out we were family was an honor. He was so kind, and funny. Wish we could've had more time to get to know each other, but the few times we had spoken/laughed at the bbqs&parties was enough to truly know how great a man he was. To the friends and family I send many hugs, much love and sympathy. He will be missed by all of us.
