Otis Stevens Jr., was born on April 1, 1955 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Olan Stevenson and Elizabeth Coleman. He passed away Thursday March 1st, 2012 at Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Turnersville, NJ, after a long battle with diabetes. Otis was raised on Haverford Avenue in Philadelphia, where he attended Mc Michael Elementary. He later joined the Job Corp in Kentucky where he graduated from high school. Shortly thereafter, Otis returned to his hometown of Philadelphia in search of a career. With his outgoing and versatile personality, he worked in the medical field as a Certified Nursing Assistant as well as aCSR in the banking industry. However he found his dream job as a professional truck driver, which he did for over 30 years and transported for several trucking companies throughout the east coast. In his spare time he was known for showing off his "Stinkin Lincoln" town cars. Otis also enjoyed restoring cars and selling them to friends and family. Otis loved to travel the states and abroad, he often drove down south to visit family and friends. He was also a boxing aficionado and would often correctly call the round when a fighter would be knocked out, just by sizing up the two combatants. This comes to no surprise considering that Otis was a skilled martial artist and held a 2nd degree black belt. He was also a great dancer and was truly a one man show when he hit the dance floor! Otis met and fell in love with his soul mate, Vivian Gatlin, whom he affectionately called his "boobie", they never parted ways until the day he was called home. Otis accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. His family's church home is Greater St. Paul United Holiness Church located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Otis will be truly missed and leaves to cherish in loving memory to his loving spouse, Vivian A. Gatlin; mother, Elizabeth Coleman; grandmother, Rose Lee Mathis; Three sons Otis Johnson (Kiandra), Curtis A. Holmes, Christopher R. Holmes; daughter, Tonia (Mimi) Burton; stepson Vernon V. Lee; three grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Terry (Jimmy); brother-in-law Leaders Greer (Rose) and a host of cousins and friends.
