Obituary of Brian Jerome James

Brian Jerome James, 54 of Pleasantville, New Jersey, transitioned into Heaven on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021. He was born to the late Mary L. James and Richard L. James on March 24,1967 in Somers Point, New Jersey at Shore Memorial Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Pleasantville and attended the Pleasantville Public School System. He graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1985. After graduating, he attended Montclair State University. Brian was a hard working man whose work ethic was unmatched. He was employed at Dee Lumber Company for a number of years before finding his place at the City of Pleasantville. He held several positions before becoming WPC Supervisor. He was a member and President of the Local 720 Government Workers Union. He also held a position as a Union Shop Steward. He recently completed his studies at Rutgers University for Public Works Management. He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved watching his favorite TV shows like Good Times, Martin, Game of Thrones, and Chicago PD, just to name a few. Spending time with those who meant most to him was a must on his list. He had a kind spirit and was always willing to help anyone. He was a man who loved his family and it showed, especially his 3 children. He had a smile that was infectious and would light up a room. He loved music and even started out as the neighborhood DJ. Music would be blasted through his speakers. He loved the oldies from The O’Jays, the 90’s Rap and R&B like Notorious BIG to R. Kelly. He kept up with the newcomers like J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar, Ne-Yo and Usher. He always kept it cool and suave. He was loved by everyone he met and couldn’t walk down the street without hearing “Baby G”. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Anna Mae Ellis and Fred J. Ellis; his mother, Mary L. James; and brother, Cedric Jackson. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Laura James of Pleasantville; his father, Richard L. James of Pleasantville; his children, Brianna James of Baltimore, Maryland, Iyana James of Mays Landing, New Jersey, and Sean (Syanni) James of Atlantic City, New Jersey; his sisters, Dierdre Dabney of Mays Landing, New Jersey, and Rochelle D. James of Pleasantville; his brothers, Gregory F. James Sr. of Pleasantville, and Byron Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia; a little girl that was near to his heart, Kimani Roe; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He will be deeply missed.
