Obituary of Janet Marjorie Jefferson

Janet M. Jefferson departed this life suddenly on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at her home in Pleasantville, New Jersey. Born the last of ten children in Carrollton, Virginia, she was a resident of this area since the 1960s.
Janet joined Second Baptist Church in Atlantic City in 1967. While at Second Baptist, she was an original member of the Inspirational Choral Ensemble from its inception in 1974 and was a featured soloist with a beautiful tenor voice. Janet served as the treasurer of the choir from 1976 until she joined Faith Baptist Church in Pleasantville in 2017, to finally serve with her husband, Robert.
Janet was employed by The NeedleCraft in Atlantic City for many years as a window dresser until its closing. She was "Aunt Janet" to the many children she cared for as a child care provider in her home. She then went to work as a secretary for Atlantic Human Resources, working in their offices on Bayview Avenue, until her retirement.
Janet was predeceased by her parents, Junious and Marjorie Brown Wiggins; her nine older siblings; and one of her three godsons, Chaune T. Jennings.
Left to cherish fond memories are her husband, Robert L. Jefferson; her two daughters, Angela J. Jefferson of Absecon and LaTanya D. Hill of Chester, Virginia; 4 grandchildren, Dominique Jefferson, Aaron Hill, Jayla Hill and Jehu Hill; her dearest friend of 69 years, Agnes Kearney; two godsons, Reginald Kearney and Christopher Kearney; a goddaughter, Chaia N. Jennings, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
