Obituary of Kevin Gregory Roberts II
My son,
We were sitting in church on Easter Sunday, April 3, 1983 when I started getting contractions. We were having company that day, so we all went home and I finished cooking and fed the crew. You were a pain that whole day. Finally at 11:45 that night, you made your grand appearance. I knew from that moment you were going to be a special child, I just didn't know how special. You were my Easter Baby, never to have a birthday on Easter again.
Being the only son of Kevin G. Roberts and Brenda Starr-Roberts, younger brother to Aishia and Tene, you spent your short life in Sicklerville where you attended Winslow Township Schools, excelling in music with the Edgewood High School Marching Band. You were a master in the Trumpet, but could play anything they gave you. Your class was the last to graduate from Edgewood High School in 2001.
Right out of high school, you joined your father at Atlantic City Carpenters Union, Local 623. There you worked as an apprentice for four years and in 2005, you graduated and became a Journeyman Carpenter.
A journeyman that is truly what you became. Not only in the constuction field, but everywhere else. You were always moving, touching and caring for others. The many lives you touched are just too many to count. Your journey has taken you all over, and allowed you to meet many. Although it was a short journey, it was a successful one. You may not have known where your journey was taking you, but we know where it ended. Your walk as a Christian and your faith in God clearly defines where your home is now. Thank God we have seen you grow in your faith as a member of The Lighthouse of Deliverance Gospel Church.
Your wife Shelana has been a trooper. Your girls Brook-Lynn and Cheyenne miss you. Your mother-in-law,Michelle Hicks will love you forever. Your nephews, Zaire and Michael and your oldest niece, Imani will not be able to fill the void their uncle "Manny"left. Brothers-in-law, Charles Hicks, Michael Tolson and Anthony Burse are now the three Amigos. Your grandfather, Thomas Starr and grandmother, Beatrice Roberts will miss you truly along with your many aunts, uncles and cousins. You have a host of family and friends from New Jersey to Florida that is left with a void, they can not, or will not fill.
You were a very special young man who touched many. You're now with God, Angel, Nana, Pop and Glenn. I know you are all dancing. You're probably teaching Nana how to do the Cupid Shuffle. I'm glad God sent you on that journey.
We love you sooo much.
