Obituary of Charles E. Giddens
Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles E Giddens, age 81, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at his home in Vineland, NJ after a brief illness.
He was born on November 2, 1938, to the late Thomas Lord Giddens and Frances Laura Bailey in Exmore, Virginia.
Charles E or “Fast Eddie”, as he was affectionately known, attended the Northampton County Public School system, where he completed the eighth grade. Charles left school to work on his grandfather’s farm, but farm life wasn’t for him. Charles moved to Delaware, then to New Jersey to begin a career as a long haul truck driver. Charles worked for John Maimone Trucking Company, and Russo Farms Inc., where he was called the “Gun Fighter” by his trucker friends. After 50 years of driving across the country, he retired.
Charles was such a hard worker and staying retired was hard for him, so he started a lawn care business. He also had many hobbies, but the three he loved the most was fishing, crabbing, and listening to the blues.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his children Gregory Deal of Galloway, NJ, Frances Thompson (Johnnie) of Atlantic City NJ, Charles Giddens of Atlantic City, NJ, Patrice Molley (Benjamin) Egg Harbor Twp., NJ, Sidney Deal, Charles Wynn, Harry Deal (Laura) of Northfield, NJ, Step-daughters Florence Aikens (Barnette) of Brigantine, NJ, Gloria Deal of Pleasantville, NJ, Long-Time Girlfriend and Caregiver–Juanita Freeman. Charles also leaves to cherish his memory three brothers Ronald Berry of Dover, DE, Wayne Berry and Terraime Giddens of Felton, DE, Three sisters, Audrey Smith and Clara Berry of Felton, DE and Eunice Piper of Milton, DE. Forty grandchildren and a host of great-grands, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
