Obituary of Rachel L. Woods

Rachel Love Woods, age 77, passed away peacefully with her granddaughter by her side on January 8, 2020. She was born February 27, 1942 to the late William "Willie" and Sarah Woods. Rachel was raised in Berlin. She was educated in the Berlin Township Public Schools system. Rachel was the 8th child of her siblings. Rachel had two good friends Etta Rivers and Pearl Jackson. You could say they were The Three Musketeers. Rachel was such a social butterfly. She joined the Camp Fire Girls under the instruction of Maddie Bowser. She also attended Green Grove Baptist Church under the Leadership of Rev. Caldwell where she accepted the Lord as her personal savior. If you ever wanted to find Rachel she would be singing on the Inspirational Choir. Rachel had one daughter Sonya Young who predeceased her in August of 2014. Rachel loved Sonya so much. They had a special bond that no one could break. Rachel's singing abilities was so great that she received a call for an offer that she could not refuse. Rachel was offered a position on the Angelic Choir with this offer she will receive a huge sign-on-bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. If anyone really knew Rachel, she was not really worried about working, however, this position comes with 100% Job Security. Her new position takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, and eating until her heart's content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. She left instructions for her family and friends to celebrate her here. Low adherence to this instruction will not be tolerated. She leaves to celebrate her memories are her Three Granddaughters: Iyona (Derrick) Kennedy, Latoya Mathews and Nikia Brown; Six Grandchildren: Dymir Stone, Dwyon Mathews, Lynniah Mathews, Khalik and Zhakir Council, and William Kennedy; One Sister: Ida Mae (Gerald)Pointer; Three Brothers: Curtis Woods, Gregory (Mary) Woods, and Elisha Woods; 1 Uncle: Bernard(Della)Woods and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
