James grew up in the Winslow, NJ. He served on an aircraft carrier during the Korean War. (His love for airplanes continued throughout his life. Later he married Janice Wilcoxson, and lived in Berlin, NJ. They raised two children together Larry and Theresa.
He worked at Bob's Meats as a meat cutter, served as Lt. on Berlin Township Police Department, and worked at Pathmark as a meat cutter. he took great pleasure in providing well for his family.
James will be remembered as a kind generous man who liked showing hospitality, welcoming all, cooking, eating, giving directions, and just watching others enjoy life. James paid great attention to detail this was evident as he completed tasks as simple as cutting up vegetables to as complicate as rebuilding engines. Playing tunes on his harmonica was an enjoyable pastime especially entertaining his neighbors in Florida.
James Handy was a good brother, husband, father, uncle, pop. and friend and will be sorely missed.
